Matt Anderson is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer best known for his work in the horror, thriller, and science fiction genres. Anderson was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where he developed an interest in film at an early age. After graduating from high school, Anderson enrolled in the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, where he studied film production.

Upon graduating, Anderson began his career as a freelance filmmaker, working on various horror and science fiction films. His first major success came in 2008 with the release of his horror film The Uninvited, which was well received by critics and earned him a nomination for the Saturn Award for Best Horror Film. This was followed by the critically acclaimed sci-fi horror film Pandorum in 2009, which Anderson co-wrote and directed.

Anderson next went on to direct the psychological thriller The Divide in 2011, which won him the Best Director award at the Fantasia Film Festival. He followed this up with the 2013 science fiction film Europa Report, which he co-wrote and co-produced. Anderson also wrote and directed the 2016 found footage horror film The Darkness, which was a modest success.

In 2017, Anderson directed the psychological horror film Get Out, which was met with critical and commercial acclaim. The film earned numerous awards and nominations, including Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay. Anderson followed this success with the 2019 horror film The Lodge, which he co-wrote and directed.

Anderson is currently in pre-production on his next film, an adaptation of the horror novel The Terror. Anderson is known for his effective use of suspense and tension, as well as his ability to create a deep sense of atmosphere in his films.
