Matías Gueilburt is an Argentine film director, producer, and screenwriter, born in Buenos Aires in 1975. He has worked in the film industry for over two decades, directing and producing films that have won awards both domestically and internationally.

Gueilburt’s first feature film, El Arca (The Ark, 2004), was nominated for seven awards and won three, including the Argentine Film Critics Association Award for Best New Director. His second feature film, Showbusiness (2008), was nominated for four awards and won two, including the Special Jury Prize at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. Gueilburt also directed the documentary Los Salvajes (The Wild Ones, 2010), which was nominated for two awards and won one.

Gueilburt’s latest feature film is Kamikaze (2015). The film was selected to compete in the Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section, and won the FIPRESCI Prize. It also won Best Film at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival and the Argentine Film Critics Association Award for Best Film.

In addition to his work in film, Gueilburt is also the director of the documentary series Una Ciudad en Movimiento (A City in Motion, 2018), which explores the social, political, and cultural changes taking place in Buenos Aires. The series won Best Documentary at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival.
