Martin Ťapák is a Slovakian film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his work on films such as The House (2018), Wild Boar (2018), and The Lighthouse (2016).

Ťapák was born on October 10, 1988 in Bratislava, Slovakia. He grew up in a small village and was first introduced to the world of film and television through his parents, who were avid movie watchers. He was fascinated by the stories and the visual elements of movies and began making short films with his friends at the age of eleven.

In 2006, he enrolled in the film directing program at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Bratislava, where he studied for seven years. During his studies, he worked on numerous projects, including short films, music videos, and commercials. His graduation film, The Lighthouse, won multiple awards and was screened at numerous film festivals around the world. It was also selected to be Slovakia’s submission to the Academy Awards in 2016.

Following his graduation, Ťapák continued to pursue a career in film. In 2018, he directed The House, a horror-thriller about a family who moves into a haunted house. The film was well-received by critics and was a box office success. That same year, Ťapák also wrote, produced, and directed Wild Boar, a coming-of-age drama about a young boy who embarks on an adventure in the Slovakian countryside. The film was also a critical and commercial success.

In 2020, Ťapák released his first feature-length film, The Little One. The film tells the story of a young boy who is struggling to fit in at school and finds comfort in an imaginary creature. The film won numerous awards, including Best Picture at the 2020 Slovak Film Awards.
