BIO

Marshall Flaum is an American director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for directing and producing the television series such as House of Cards, The Wire, and Homicide: Life on the Street.

Flaum was born in New York City in 1958. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980 with a degree in Communications. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

Flaum began his career as an assistant director on the television series Hill Street Blues. He then worked his way up to become a producer on the series Homicide: Life on the Street. In the late 1990s, he served as executive producer and showrunner on the hit HBO series The Wire.

In 2003, Flaum made his feature film directorial debut with the drama film Our Father. The movie starred Martin Landau and was well received by critics.

In 2013, Flaum joined the crew of the Netflix series House of Cards as a producer and director. He worked on the show for four seasons and was nominated for a Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Drama Series in 2017.
