Maria Stodtmeier is an award-winning German director and screenwriter. She is best known for her critically acclaimed films such as The Wave (2008), White Time (2010), and The Land of the Lost Children (2012).

Born in Berlin, Germany, Maria Stodtmeier began her career as a theater director in Berlin. She graduated from the renowned Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2000, and soon after, she began directing plays for various theaters in Berlin.

In 2006, Stodtmeier made her feature-length debut with the film The Wave. The film was a critical success, garnering several awards, including the Best Debut Feature Award at the Berlin International Film Festival.

In 2010, Stodtmeier directed the film White Time. The film was invited to several international film festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival.

In 2012, Stodtmeier directed her most ambitious film yet, The Land of the Lost Children. The film was nominated for five German Film Awards, and won four of them.
