Marcelo Luna is an award-winning director, writer, and producer best known for his work in the film and television industry. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts and has worked on a variety of projects ranging from feature films to television shows to commercials.
Born in Mexico City, Marcelo’s childhood was spent dreaming of becoming a filmmaker. After studying literature and philosophy at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, he attended USC and graduated in 2000 with a Master of Fine Arts in Film and Television Production.
In 2002, Marcelo wrote and directed his first feature film, “The Cancun Experience”. The film earned him international recognition and was selected to be part of the Cannes Film Festival. Since then, he has gone on to direct several other feature films, including “Por Los Suenos de Maria”, “Luna de Miel”, and “La Muerte de Oro”.
In addition to feature films, Marcelo has directed television shows, including “Gran Hermano”, “La Vida de los Reyes”, and “La Rosa de Guadalupe”. He is also an experienced commercial director, having directed several campaigns for brands such as Adidas, Pepsi, and Corona.
Marcelo’s work has been nominated for several awards, including the Ariel Award, the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences, and the Independent Spirit Awards. He has also been awarded the Latin American Achievement Award from the Directors Guild of America for his feature film “The Cancun Experience”.
Marcelo is currently working on his next feature film, “El Ocaso de los Dioses”, and is also producing and directing a new television series called “Tierra de Reyes”. He is an active member of the Directors Guild of America and the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences.
