Lukas Zeilinger is an artist and filmmaker from Berlin, born in 1985. He completed a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Arts and a Meisterschüler at the Berlin Art University. His artistic work is currently part of several museum projects, including the BERLIN GLOBAL exhibition at the Humboldt Forum, the URBAN NATION Museum in Berlin, the Museum for Contemporary Art in Munich and the Urban Art Biennale at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Völklinger Hütte.
After leading a number of art workshops with socially disadvantaged youth and refugees in Berlin, he created the social art project Painting Dhaka and spent almost six months in the slums of Bangladesh teaching graffiti art in local schools. The experience led to the documentary film Painting Dhaka, which is now being screened at various film festivals.
The success of the project, along with his close collaboration with the NGOs German Doctors and Amnesty International, marked the beginning of a larger Painting series. Following Painting Kosova in April 2024, preparations are currently underway for Painting Nairobi.
