Luis Fernández de la Reguera is a Spanish film director, producer and screenwriter. He was born in Madrid in 1971 and grew up in the city's working-class district of Vallecas. He has directed a number of films, including the 2002 drama "El Bola" and the 2008 comedy "Vacas con Gafas".

Fernández de la Reguera studied at the Complutense University of Madrid, graduating with a degree in Communication Sciences. After completing his studies, he began his career at Spanish television network TVE, where he worked as an editor and assistant director. In 1999, he made his directorial debut with the short film “Mía”, which won the Silver Méliès award at the Sitges International Film Festival.

In 2002, Fernández de la Reguera wrote and directed “El Bola”, a drama about a young boy from a difficult home environment who finds solace in the game of padel. The film was a critical success and won several awards, including the Goya Award for Best New Director. Following the success of “El Bola”, Fernández de la Reguera directed the 2008 comedy “Vacas con Gafas”, which follows the story of a young girl who discovers her own identity through a journey of self-discovery in rural Spain.

In addition to his feature film work, Fernández de la Reguera has directed a number of television series, including the hit Spanish sitcom “7 Vidas”. He has also directed a number of commercials, including one for the Spanish clothing brand Zara, and has written and produced a number of documentaries.

Fernández de la Reguera is known for his distinctive visual style, which often makes use of hand-held cameras and natural light. His work often deals with themes of family, relationships, and the search for identity.
