BIO

Lisa Lax is a prominent film and television director and producer in Hollywood. She has worked on some of the most successful television shows of the last decade, including the hit drama series Friday Night Lights, the critically acclaimed show Nashville, and the Emmy-winning comedy Veep.

Lax grew up in Los Angeles, California and attended the University of California, Los Angeles, graduating with a degree in film and television production. After college, she pursued a career in the entertainment industry, working as an assistant director, production manager, and producer before eventually becoming a director.

In 2004, she directed the television series The Mountain, which was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries. Since then, Lax has worked on a variety of television shows, including the hit drama series Friday Night Lights, the critically acclaimed show Nashville, and the Emmy-winning comedy Veep. She has also directed episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Wife, and Glee.

In addition to her television work, Lax has directed several feature films, including the independent film Lola Versus and the romantic comedy The Other Woman. Her latest film is the upcoming drama When We Rise, starring Mary-Louise Parker and Guy Pearce.

Throughout her career, Lax has been known for her strong commitment to diversity and female-driven stories. She is an active member of the Directors Guild of America, and has been recognized for her work with numerous awards and nominations, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries for The Mountain, a Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Director for Lola Versus, and a Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy Series for Veep.

Lax is a passionate advocate for strong female representation in the film and television industry. She is currently developing a feature film about the life of former First Lady Michelle Obama, as well as a television series about the life of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Her work continues to push the boundaries of gender equality in Hollywood.
