Laurie House is an American film director and screenwriter. She is best known for her work on the TV series “Mad Men” and the feature film “Boys Don’t Cry”.

Laurie was born in Los Angeles, California in 1972. She began her career as an assistant editor on the TV series “L.A. Law”. In 1997, she made her directorial debut with the short film “The Last Time I Saw Him”, which won a Student Academy Award.

In 1999, Laurie wrote and directed her first feature film, “Boys Don’t Cry”, which was nominated for two Academy Awards and won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. The film starred Hilary Swank, Chloë Sevigny, and Peter Sarsgaard.

In 2002, Laurie wrote and directed the feature film “Personal Velocity”, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. The film starred Kyra Sedgwick, Parker Posey and Fairuza Balk.

In 2008, Laurie wrote and directed the feature film “Hounddog”, starring Dakota Fanning. The film was controversial for its depiction of child abuse and received mixed reviews from critics.

In 2010, Laurie wrote and directed the feature film “The Runaways”, starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. The film was well received by critics and was nominated for several awards, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy.
