BIO

Lasse Hoile is a Danish film and music video director who works in both the UK and Denmark. He is best known for his work with the progressive metal band Porcupine Tree and its founder, Steven Wilson. Hoile has directed music videos for many other artists, including Marillion, Anathema, Opeth, Katatonia, Jethro Tull, and Karnivool.

Hoile was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and grew up in the port city of Esbjerg. He studied at the European Film College in Ebeltoft, Denmark, and graduated with a degree in film direction and production in 2005.

Hoile's directing career began with a series of music videos for the Danish metal band, Scarlet Run. He then went on to direct several music videos for Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson, which were released on the DVD, Arriving Somewhere. His other work includes music videos for Marillion, Anathema, Opeth, Katatonia, Jethro Tull, Karnivool, and The Pineapple Thief.

Hoile has also directed several feature films and television series. His debut feature film, The Silences of Home, was released in 2013. It was an official selection at the Copenhagen International Film Festival and was nominated for the Nordic Council Film Prize.

Hoile has worked with several Danish production companies, including Nordisk Film, Zentropa, and Nordisk Television. In 2016, he directed the Danish television series, Under Sandet, which was nominated for seven Robert Awards, the Danish equivalent of the Academy Awards.

Hoile has also directed several commercials, including a series for the Danish telecom company, Telia. He has also directed several short films, including The Timekeeper, which was the winner of the Best International Short Film Award at the 2018 Raindance Film Festival.

Hoile has earned numerous awards and nominations throughout his career, including the award for Best Music Video at the Berlin Music Video Awards for his video for the Anathema song, "Untouchable." He also received a nomination for the Robert Award for Best Director for his work on Under Sandet.

Throughout his career, Hoile has proven himself to be a talented and versatile director, who is equally talented in both commercial and independent projects. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for filmmaking, Hoile has become one of the most sought-after directors in Denmark.
