Lamia Chraibi

Lamia Chraibi is a French Moroccan Canadian filmmaker based in Montreal. Her work focuses on themes such as social justice, identity, family and territory, and often explores subjects connected to body language and social art. At the centre of her approach is a deep attention to human stories.

She studied social sciences at the Sorbonne in Paris and documentary filmmaking at L INIS in Montreal, experiences that shaped her sensitive and engaged vision of the world. Her artistic perspective is also influenced by questions of identity, her migratory journey and her travels.

Chraibi’s cinema is built on time and on the trust developed with the people she films. Through a poetic approach, her camera seeks to give voice to individuals and communities who are often overlooked, revealing intimate stories from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
