Kristín Ólafsdóttir is a renowned Icelandic director and producer. She graduated from the University of Iceland with a degree in film and media studies, and since then has directed and produced numerous award-winning films.

Kristín Ólafsdóttir’s first feature-length film was the critically acclaimed ‘Cold Light’, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001. The film was nominated for an Academy Award and won a series of awards including the Nordic Council Film Prize in 2002. The film explores the lives of two women in the small fishing village of Ólafsdalur and examines their struggle to survive in a harsh environment.

Kristín has since gone on to direct and produce a wide array of films, including the widely praised ‘Gone Too Far’ (2007), ‘The Good Life’ (2008), ‘The Deep’ (2009), and the biopic ‘Hedvig and the Thing’ (2010). Her most recent feature film, ‘Return of the Atom’ (2015), was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award.

Kristín Ólafsdóttir’s films have earned her a variety of awards, including eight Edda Awards from the Icelandic Film and Television Academy, six Nordic Council Film Prizes, and the European Film Academy’s Prix Fipresci.
