BIO

Klára Trencsényi is a Hungarian film and television director. She was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1976 and graduated from the University of Theatre and Film Arts in 2002.

Trencsényi began her directing career in 2002 with the short film “Walking” which was selected for the Cannes Film Festival. She followed this with the feature film “Sisters” in 2003 which was nominated for the Hungarian Film Critics Award.

In 2006, she directed the television drama “The Remaining” which won several awards at the Hungarian Film Festival. This was followed by the feature film “The Way Home” in 2008 which was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

In 2010, Trencsényi directed the television drama “The Roundabout” which won the Golden Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. This was followed by the feature film “The Cry” in 2011 which was nominated for the European Film Award.

Trencsényi has since directed several television movies and series such as “The Other Side of the Mirror” in 2014 and “Merry-Go-Round” in 2016. She is currently in post-production on the feature film “The Fiancée” which is scheduled for a 2018 release.

Trencsényi is known for her emotionally powerful films and her ability to capture the essence of a character. Her films often explore themes of family, identity, and the complexities of human relationships.

Klára Trencsényi is one of the most celebrated and acclaimed directors in Hungary and her work has been recognized around the world. She is an inspiration to many emerging filmmakers and her work will continue to be admired for years to come.
