Kirk Demorest is an Emmy Award-winning American television director and producer. He has directed over 250 episodes for some of the most popular and beloved television shows, including Seinfeld, Friends, The King of Queens, Will & Grace, and Scrubs.

Born in Los Angeles, California in the early 1950s, Demorest developed an early interest in filmmaking and attended the University of Southern California’s School of Cinema-Television. After graduating in 1975, he began his career as an assistant director and soon moved up the ranks to become a full-fledged director.

Demorest’s first major project was directing the hit comedy series Seinfeld in the mid-1990s. He went on to direct a total of nine episodes of the show, including the highly praised season 8 finale, “The Summer of George.” He also directed multiple episodes of other hit sitcoms, including Friends, The King of Queens, and Will & Grace.

In addition to his work in sitcoms, Demorest has directed episodes of several popular medical dramas, including ER, Grey’s Anatomy, and Scrubs. He also directed the pilot episode of the medical drama series House, which was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2006.

In recent years, Demorest has continued to direct for television, helming episodes of hit shows like The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. In 2019, he won his first Emmy Award for directing an episode of the Netflix series Russian Doll.
