Ken Powell is an award-winning director, producer, and screenwriter. He has directed and produced several films, television shows, and documentaries.

Powell began his career as an assistant director on the television series “Fantasy Island” in the early 1980s. He then went on to direct several television films, including “The Last of the Mohicans” and “The Curse of the Werewolf.”

In the early 1990s, Powell made his feature film debut with the thriller “The Hitcher.” The film was a moderate success and was followed by the family drama “Losing Isaiah” and the romantic comedy “The Perfect Man.”

Powell then went on to direct the action-thriller “The Taking of Pelham 123” and the remake of “The Longest Yard.” He also directed the critically acclaimed drama “The Notebook” and the science fiction film “The Day the Earth Stood Still.”

In recent years, Powell has focused more on producing and directing television shows. He has executive produced the crime drama “CSI: Miami” and the legal drama “Shark”, as well as the comedy series “Rules of Engagement” and the medical drama “House.”

In addition to his directing and producing credits, Powell also wrote and directed the feature film “My Best Friend’s Girl.” He also wrote the screenplay for the sequel to “The Hitcher” and is currently developing a new television series for ABC.
