Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Kelly has always had an innate passion for the creative arts. She began her career in the film industry in the late 1990s as an editor and motion graphics artist.

In the early 2000s, Kelly Colbert became a sought-after freelance director and producer. She has directed and produced numerous commercials, music videos, and short films for a variety of clients, including MTV, VH1, and Nickelodeon. She has also directed and produced independent films and documentaries, such as the award-winning feature-length documentary "Invisible Lives: The Women of Juarez."
