Kate O'Callaghan is an award-winning Irish director and screenwriter best known for her work on the critically acclaimed feature film, Lazy Bones.

O’Callaghan was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1978. She developed an early interest in film, and began writing her own stories as a child. After graduating from Trinity College Dublin in 2000, she moved to London to pursue a career in filmmaking.

In 2003, O’Callaghan wrote and directed her first short film, The Ballad of Jimmy and Joe, which was featured in festivals around the world. Her follow-up short, The Moon is Not a Compass, was an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival and won numerous awards, including the Grand Jury Prize at the Chicago International Film Festival.

In 2010, O’Callaghan wrote and directed her first feature film, Lazy Bones. The film, set in the Irish countryside, tells the story of a young man’s struggle to cope with a difficult childhood. It was well-received by critics and audiences alike, winning several awards, including Best Film at the Galway Film Fleadh.

Since then, O’Callaghan has worked on a variety of projects, including a short film starring Cillian Murphy, and a television drama series. She has also directed several music videos and documentaries.

O’Callaghan is passionate about telling stories that reflect the diversity of Irish life. She is dedicated to creating meaningful and thought-provoking stories that explore the human experience. Her work is often praised for its insight and sensitivity.
