Juan Manuel Salinas A. is a Mexican film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is renowned for his work in both feature films and television series.
Salinas was born in Mexico City on June 24, 1975, to parents who were both independent filmmakers. He began his career in the Mexican film industry in the early 1990s, working as an assistant director and editor for a number of independent Mexican film projects.
In 2000, Salinas wrote and directed his first feature film, "La Misma Luna" (The Same Moon), which was an instant success in the Mexican box office. The movie was a family drama about a young Mexican boy who tries to reunite with his mother in the United States. The film was critically acclaimed and won numerous awards, including the Best Picture Award at the San Diego Latino Film Festival in 2002.
In the following years, Salinas directed a number of feature films, including "Virgen de Guadalupe" (Virgin of Guadalupe), "El Cielo Abierto" (The Open Sky), and "Sangre de Mi Sangre" (Blood of My Blood).
