Juan Manuel Salinas A. is a Mexican film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is renowned for his work in both feature films and television series.

Salinas was born in Mexico City on June 24, 1975, to parents who were both independent filmmakers. He began his career in the Mexican film industry in the early 1990s, working as an assistant director and editor for a number of independent Mexican film projects.

In 2000, Salinas wrote and directed his first feature film, "La Misma Luna" (The Same Moon), which was an instant success in the Mexican box office. The movie was a family drama about a young Mexican boy who tries to reunite with his mother in the United States. The film was critically acclaimed and won numerous awards, including the Best Picture Award at the San Diego Latino Film Festival in 2002.

In the following years, Salinas directed a number of feature films, including "Virgen de Guadalupe" (Virgin of Guadalupe), "El Cielo Abierto" (The Open Sky), and "Sangre de Mi Sangre" (Blood of My Blood). He was also a producer on the films "Por Todo lo Alto" (For All Highs) and "La Sombra del Diablo" (The Devil's Shadow).

In 2008, Salinas co-wrote and directed the television series "El SeƱor de los Cielos" (The Lord of the Skies). The series, which is based on the life of Mexican drug lord Amado Carrillo Fuentes, became an instant success and ran for seven seasons.

In 2014, Salinas directed the feature film "La Dictadura Perfecta" (The Perfect Dictatorship), which was a box office and critical success. The film was a political satire about a fictional president of Mexico and his attempts to stay in power.

In 2018, Salinas wrote, produced, and directed the film "La Leyenda del Chupacabras" (The Legend of the Chupacabra), which was an international success. The movie was about a group of friends who discover a mythical creature in the Mexican countryside.

Salinas' films have won numerous awards, including two Ariel Awards from the Mexican Academy of Cinematic Arts and Sciences. He has also been the recipient of the National Arts Award from the Mexican government.
