Jonathan Furmanski is a director and producer of feature films, television series, and web series. He has been in the entertainment industry for over 15 years, and his work has been featured in festivals around the world.
Furmanski was born in Toronto, Canada, and attended York University for his undergraduate degree in Film Studies. After graduating, he started his career as a camera assistant on the feature film, “The Sissy Duckling”, starring Robin Williams. From there, he worked his way up to become a cinematographer on numerous feature films, as well as television series.
In 2008, Furmanski directed his first feature film, “Killing Time”. The film premiered at the Fantasia International Film Festival, where it was well received by critics. It went on to have a successful theatrical run in Canada, and was later released on DVD in the United States.
Furmanski has since gone on to direct and produce several other feature films, television series, and web series. His film “The Darkest Hour” was released in 2011 and was one of the first feature films to be shot entirely on the RED One camera. The film was critically acclaimed and was nominated for several awards, including two Golden Globe Awards.
In 2013, Furmanski produced the web series “The Unforgettable”, which was nominated for Best Online Series at the 2013 Canadian Screen Awards. He also produced the critically acclaimed television series “Hemlock Grove”, which ran for three seasons on Netflix.
Furmanski’s most recent work is the feature film “The Hunting Party”, which is set to be released in 2021. The film follows a group of friends who embark on a wild night of partying and debauchery.
Furmanski’s films have been praised for their sharp cinematography and creative storytelling. He has become one of the most sought after directors in the Canadian film industry, and his work has earned him a devoted fan base.
Furmanski is currently based in Toronto and continues to work on many projects. He is also a frequent lecturer on the art of filmmaking and regularly speaks at film festivals and universities around the world.
