John Hardwick is an English director, screenwriter and producer. He is best known for his work in television comedy, particularly his directing credits on The Inbetweeners and Fresh Meat, as well as the feature films The Festival and Nativity!.
Hardwick began his career as an actor, appearing in several television shows, including the BBC drama Casualty and ITV Police drama The Bill. He then moved to directing, taking on several short films, including It's Not You, It's Me in 2001, which was nominated for a BAFTA.
In 2007, Hardwick made his big break when he was hired to direct the first series of the hit British comedy The Inbetweeners. The show was an instant success, and ran for three series, as well as a spin-off movie.
Hardwick continued to find success as a director, helming the popular comedy series Fresh Meat, as well as directing the first series of hit show Cuckoo. He has also directed a number of films, including the 2016 comedy The Festival, starring Joe Thomas and Claudia O'Doherty.
In 2018, Hardwick released his biggest project to date, the family comedy Nativity!. The film was a success, and spawned two sequels, Nativity Rocks! and Nativity Rocks Again!
Hardwick has gone on to direct further television shows, including BBC Three comedy This Country, as well as episodes of Taskmaster, Uncle and Drifters.
John Hardwick is a hugely successful director, with a long list of credits to his name. His work on The Inbetweeners and Nativity! has seen him become one of the most popular directors in British comedy, and he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
