Jewel Maranan is an award-winning Filipino director, producer, and writer who has worked in the entertainment industry for over 20 years. She is best known for her critically acclaimed films, such as “Transit” (2016), “Ang Huling Cha-Cha Ni Anita” (2013), and “Kubrador” (2005).

Maranan was born in the Philippines. She began her career in the entertainment industry as a production assistant and editor for various television projects. In 2003, she wrote, produced, and directed her first feature film, “Kubrador”, which was a critical success. She went on to direct and produce several other films, such as “Ang Huling Cha-Cha Ni Anita” (2013), “Transit” (2016), and “Tres” (2018).

Maranan has won numerous awards for her work, including the Gawad Urian Award for Best Director for “Kubrador” (2005), the Gawad Urian Award for Best Screenplay for “Ang Huling Cha-Cha Ni Anita” (2013), and the Gawad Urian Award for Best Film for “Transit” (2016). She has also been nominated for several awards, including the Golden Leopard for “Tres” (2018) at the Locarno International Film Festival.

In addition to her work as a filmmaker, Maranan has been actively involved in various social issues in the Philippines.
