Jaydon Martin is an Australian-born film director whose work moves between narrative and documentary cinema. He was the camera operator on the feature documentary General Hercules, which screened at the Melbourne International Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival and Taiwan International Documentary Festival. Martin has also created numerous behind-the-scenes documentaries for major British institutions including the BBC, Welsh National Opera, Wales Millennium Centre, National Theatre of Wales and Artes Mundi.
Drawing on his own upbringing in a violent, low-socioeconomic area of Australia, Martin’s creative practice is deeply rooted in the portrayal of marginalised communities and the quiet poetry of everyday life. His work consistently foregrounds working-class experience, both in the stories he tells and in the way he collaborates behind the camera.
