BIO

Iván Osnovikoff is an award-winning Chilean-Argentinian film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is known for his films such as The Motorcycle Diaries (2004), Machuca (2004), and The Maid (2009).

Iván Osnovikoff was born in Santiago, Chile, on October 10, 1967. He was raised in a family of Russian and Spanish descent. He graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile with a degree in Communications.

As a student, Osnovikoff made his first short film, “Luna de Alegría” (1995), which won the Best Short Film award at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. This success led him to write, direct, and produce his first feature film, The Motorcycle Diaries (2004). The film was critically acclaimed and won several awards, including the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

Subsequently, Osnovikoff wrote and directed the feature film Machuca (2004), which was awarded the Grand Prix at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. This film was followed by his second feature, The Maid (2009). This movie was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and won several awards, including the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.

In addition to his feature films, Osnovikoff has directed several short films, documentaries, and television shows. He has also worked with renowned filmmakers such as Pedro Almodóvar and Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Iván Osnovikoff has become an icon of Chilean and Latin American cinema. He is an international figure who has been able to break language and cultural barriers and reach a wide audience. His films explore themes of identity, social inequality, and the search for personal freedom.

In recent years, Osnovikoff has continued to direct, write, and produce feature films. He is currently working on a new project titled “La Caja”, which is set for release in 2021.
