Hardik Mehta is an Indian film director and screenwriter, best known for his critically acclaimed debut feature film Kaamyaab (2020). He was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in 1981.
Mehta studied filmmaking at the Whistling Woods International Institute of Film and Television in Mumbai. His first short film, The Unforgettable (2005), an exercise in the film school, won several awards at various film festivals in India and abroad.
In 2010, he made his feature debut with the independent film, Amdavad Ma Famous, which explored the vibrant culture of Ahmedabad. The film was an official selection at the prestigious MAMI Film Festival and received good reviews from critics.
In 2013, Mehta wrote and directed the highly acclaimed short film, Chhuri, which was an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014. Chhuri was also nominated for the National Film Award for Best Short Fiction Film in India.
In 2020, Mehta released his feature film debut Kaamyaab, a story about an old, forgotten Bollywood actor's quest for his 500th film role. Mehta wrote, directed, and produced the film, which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival and received critical acclaim from audiences and critics alike. The film won several awards, including Best Film and Best Director at the 2020 National Film Awards.
Mehta has also written for television shows such as Kaun Banega Crorepati and Bigg Boss. His films and television shows are known for their strong social and humanist themes.
Mehta is currently working on his next feature film, which he hopes to bring to the world in 2021. He continues to be passionate about telling stories that inspire and move people.
