Guy Garvey is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and radio presenter from Bury, Greater Manchester. He is the lead singer and frontman of the alternative rock band Elbow. He is also a presenter on BBC Radio 6 Music, where he hosts a weekly show.

Guy was born on 6 March 1974 and grew up in Bury, Greater Manchester. He attended the local school and later studied at the University of Salford, where he studied music. He was a member of the band Mr Soft, who formed in 1990. The band released two albums and toured extensively, but disbanded in 1997.

After Mr Soft disbanded, Guy formed Elbow with school friends Richard Jupp, Mark Potter, and Pete Turner. The band released their debut album, Asleep in the Back, in 2001. The album was a critical and commercial success, and Elbow began to tour the UK and Europe. In 2003, they released their second album, Cast of Thousands, which was even more successful than their first.

Over the next few years, Elbow released several more albums, all of which were met with critical acclaim. In 2008, they won the Mercury Prize for their album The Seldom Seen Kid, and in 2011 they won the Brit Award for Best British Group. In 2017, they released their seventh album, Little Fictions.

In addition to his work with Elbow, Guy has also collaborated with other musicians, including The Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, and Ed Sheeran. He has also released two solo albums, Courting the Squall in 2015 and Emergency Tinderbox in 2020.

Guy has also presented several radio shows over the years, including The Outdoor Chronicles on Xfm, and his own show, Build a Rocket Boys!, on BBC Radio 6 Music. He also regularly presents music programmes on BBC Radio 2.

Guy is an active philanthropist, and has supported several charities, including War Child and the British Heart Foundation. He is also a patron of the Manchester International Festival.
