Güntbert Warns (born April 22, 1940) is a German actor who has been in the entertainment industry since the late 1960s. He is best known for his roles in the television series Derrick, Derrick – The House of The Black Death and Derrick – The Final Round, as well as the movie The Tin Drum.
Güntbert was born in Berlin, Germany and attended the University of Hamburg where he studied German language and literature. After graduating, he worked as a journalist for a German newspaper for several years. In 1967, he decided to pursue an acting career, and auditioned for a role in a play at the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. He landed the role, and was soon cast in the television series Der Alte, the first German TV series with a crime/thriller theme.
Güntbert quickly became a household name in Germany due to the series, and soon appeared in numerous other TV shows, including Derrick, Derrick – The House of The Black Death, Derrick – The Final Round and The Tin Drum. He also starred in a number of movies, such as The Girl with the Red Hair, The Legend of Paul and Paula, and The Spy Who Came in From the Cold.
Güntbert is known for his versatility as an actor, as he is able to portray a variety of characters ranging from an old man to a young soldier. He has also been awarded several prestigious awards, including the Bavarian Film Award for Best Actor, the German Television Award for Best Supporting Actor, and the Emmy Award for Best Actor.
