Greg Sestero is an actor, producer, and author originally from Walnut Creek, California. He is best known for his role as Mark in the 2003 cult classic The Room.
Sestero began his acting career in 1995 at age 14, appearing in an episode of the television series Unhappily Ever After. After appearing in a few other television and film roles, he met the director of The Room, Tommy Wiseau, in an acting class in San Francisco. When Wiseau offered him the role of Mark in The Room, Sestero accepted, and the two would become close friends.
The Room was released in 2003 and bombed at the box office, but it quickly gained a cult following of fans that praised its bizarre and offbeat nature. The film has since become one of the most popular midnight movies of all time.
In 2013, Sestero wrote a book about his experience of making The Room, titled The Disaster Artist. The book was a New York Times bestseller and was adapted into a 2017 film directed by James Franco, starring Franco as Wiseau.
Sestero has continued his acting career, appearing in television shows such as The Comeback (2014) and Kidding (2018). He has also had roles in films such as Best F(r)iends (2017) and The Neighbors (2018).
In addition to acting, Sestero has become an advocate for mental health awareness and speaks publicly about his own struggles with depression. He is also an avid pilot and owns a private plane.
