Gray Horsfield is an American actor, writer, and producer. He is known for his work on the television series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and the movie The Other Guys (2010).
Born in New York City in 1978, Gray was raised in a creative and artistic environment by his parents, who were both actors. His father, Bill, is an Emmy-winning actor and his mother, Ellen, is an acclaimed theater director. Growing up, Gray was exposed to a variety of theater, films, and television, which influenced his career path.
At the age of twelve, Gray started participating in local theater productions and quickly developed a passion for acting. He attended the Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2000 with a degree in Theater Arts.
After graduating, Gray started his career as a stand-up comedian, performing in comedy clubs around the country. He quickly developed a cult following and was soon cast in a recurring role on the hit television series, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. His role as "Charlie Kelly" was both a critical and commercial success, and he has since gone on to star in films such as The Other Guys, The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard (2009), and Going the Distance (2010).
In addition to acting, Gray is an accomplished writer and producer. He wrote and produced the feature film, The Aviator (2011), and wrote and directed the short film, The Weekend (2013). He also wrote and produced the television series, The War at Home (2006-2007), and has written and directed a number of short films.
Gray is a passionate philanthropist, and has worked with numerous organizations including the United Nations, the American Red Cross, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He is also involved in environmental causes, and was recently honored with an award from the Environmental Media Association for his work promoting environmental awareness.
Gray currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two children. He continues to act and writes and produces for both television and film. He is an inspiration to many and a testament to the power of hard work and dedication.
