BIO

G.R. Claveria is a Filipino actor, director, and producer. He is best known for his roles in films such as 'Bakit Mayroon Ka Pa' and 'Rizal sa Dapitan'.

G.R. Claveria was born in Manila, Philippines in 1934. He started his career as a film extra in the early 1950s. He worked his way up to becoming a movie actor and eventually gained recognition for his work in the 1954 film 'Bakit Mayroon Ka Pa'. He continued to appear in numerous films throughout the 1950s and 1960s, including 'Rizal sa Dapitan', 'Mga Batang Mahal Kita', 'Biyaya ng Lupa', 'Ang Ubas at ang Lawin', and 'Tayo'y Magbalik'.

In the early 1970s, G.R. Claveria began directing and producing films, starting with the 1972 movie 'Tao sa Panahon'. He went on to direct and produce a number of other films, such as 'Buhay ng Isang Sinag', 'Mga Batang May Layang Maging Isang Bansa', 'Pag-Ibig sa Tinubuang Lupa', and 'Kung May Buhay at Pag-asa'.

G.R. Claveria was also involved in the theater. He was a founding member of the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) in 1967 and was part of the group's first production, 'Daluyong'. He also appeared in several PETA productions, including 'Mga Bulaklak sa City Jail' and 'Karahasan sa Paaralan'.

Throughout his career, G.R. Claveria has earned numerous awards and recognitions. In 1975, he was given the Gawad Urian Award for Best Actor for his performance in 'Buhay ng Isang Sinag'. In 1980, he was given the Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan Award by the City of Manila. In 1992, he was given the Best Director Award for 'Pag-Ibig sa Tinubuang Lupa' by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS).
