Gerda Paliušytė is an artist based in Vilnius whose work spans documentary film, photography, and installation. Her practice focuses on documentary forms, historical and popular culture figures, and their relationship to social reality. Across different media, her work frequently explores intimacy, as well as the magic and fragility of collective existence.

Her most recent film, Nevermore (2020), is a documentary examining the legend of the American writer Edgar Allan Poe in Baltimore. Alongside filmmaking, Paliušytė has developed several long term photography projects, including For Cecil (2018 2020), Guys (2021 ongoing), and Blue Flowers (2022 ongoing), all of which have been published as books. Since 2018, she has been a member of the artists’ collective Montos Tattoo.

Paliušytė’s recent solo and duo exhibitions include You Look at Me at Jeu de Paume in Tours, Lipstick at the project space Editorial in Vilnius, and We Live in Places, created with Gabija Nedzinskaitė, presented at the former Institute of Physics in Vilnius. In 2020, she received the Rupert x Lithuanian Culture Institute x Somerset House Studios residency award.
