Gabrielle Brady is an Australian filmmaker working across documentary and hybrid cinema. She studied Documentary Direction at the Cuban International Film School, where she developed a strong visual and narrative approach to non fiction storytelling.
Over the past decade, she has lived and worked across multiple regions, including the Australian central desert, Mongolia, Indonesia, Cuba and Europe. Her work often reflects this nomadic experience, exploring themes of displacement, identity and human connection through immersive and poetic storytelling.
Her short film Island was commissioned by The Guardian documentary series and premiered at Sheffield Doc Fest in 2017. Island of the Hungry Ghosts marked her first feature length documentary, premiering internationally in 2018.
Brady’s practice combines observational documentary with conceptual and sensory elements, creating films that move between personal experience and broader political and environmental realities. She is currently based between Europe and Australia, developing new projects that continue to explore migration and changing ways of life.
