François Moreuil is a French actor and director born on October 4, 1965 in Paris. He is best known for his roles in the films “The Day of the Jackal” (1973), “Journey to the End of Night” (2006), and “The Bourne Identity” (2002), as well as his television roles in “The Tunnel” (2013-2015) and “Versailles” (2015-2017).

Born to a French father and a German mother, Moreuil began acting at the age of 15, appearing in the television series “L’Ecole des Fans” (1980). He went on to gain fame in the French film industry with his portrayal of young terrorist assassin in the internationally acclaimed film “The Day of the Jackal” (1973) opposite Edward Fox.

Moreuil’s other successful films include “The Return of Martin Guerre” (1982), “The Bourne Identity” (2002), “The Chorus” (2004), and “Journey to the End of Night” (2006). As a director, he has directed several acclaimed French films, including “The Last Place on Earth” (1997) and “The Dinner” (2004). He was also the executive producer of the television series “The Tunnel” (2013-2015) and “Versailles” (2015-2017).

In addition to his acting career, Moreuil is an outspoken advocate for human rights. He is a co-founder of the French-based NGO, “The Human Rights League”, which works to protect the rights of minorities in France.

Throughout his career, Moreuil has received numerous awards and recognition for his work. He was awarded the César Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in “The Return of Martin Guerre” (1982) and was nominated for the same award for his role in “The Chorus” (2004). He also won the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival for “The Last Place on Earth” (1997).
