Festus Musyoka Matingi is a Kenyan actor and filmmaker. He is best known for his lead roles in the feature films, “Rafiki” and “Nairobi Half Life”.

Born in Machakos, Kenya, Festus grew up in a family of six, with four brothers and a sister. He attended Kitengela Primary School and later joined Mukumu Boys Secondary School. He had a knack for acting from an early age, often participating in school plays and talent shows.

Festus started his acting career at the age of 15, when he was cast as a lead role in a local production, “The Cross-Riverian”. His performance was praised by the audience, and he quickly gained recognition amongst the community.

He then went on to join the National Theater of Kenya, where he performed in a number of productions, including “The King Must Die” and “The Child of the Sun”. He also took part in numerous short films and television shows.

In 2012, Festus made his breakthrough role in the feature film, “Rafiki”. The film was an immediate success, and it was the first Kenyan film to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival. His performance earned him numerous awards, including Best Actor at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
