Fernanda Torres is a Brazilian film, television and stage actress, best known for her roles in films such as The Man Who Copied (2003), Love for Sale (2008) and The Second Mother (2015). Born on August 5, 1965 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Fernanda was the only daughter of the renowned Brazilian actor and director, Fernando Torres. Since a young age, Fernanda was exposed to the world of performing arts and it was no surprise when she decided to pursue a career in acting.

Fernanda began her career in 1983, when she was cast in the film Olho Nu, directed by her father. She later starred in two other films, Três Irmãs and Que Rei Sou Eu?, and gained attention for her natural talent and beautiful features. Her success in films soon led to her presence in TV, where she starred in several series such as O Rebu, Anjo de Mim and A Casa das Sete Mulheres.

In the early 2000s, Fernanda earned critical acclaim for her portrayal of Rita in the film The Man Who Copied, directed by Jorge Furtado. For her role, she won the Best Actress award at the 2004 Gramado Film Festival. The same year, Fernanda starred in another box-office hit, Love for Sale, and made her stage debut in the play The Age of Reason.

Fernanda continued to work steadily in both film and television, appearing in a string of commercially successful films such as O Cheiro do Ralo (2006), A Mulher Invisível (2007), O Contador de Histórias (2009) and O Palhaço (2011). In 2015, she starred in the critically acclaimed film The Second Mother, for which she earned a nomination for the Best Actress award at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival.

In addition to her film career, Fernanda has also been active in theatre. She has appeared in a number of plays, including Shakespeare’s Macbeth and A Doll’s House. In recent years, she has been involved in several cultural projects, such as the award-winning web series Histórias de Mulheres and the theatre production Uma Noite de Paz.
