Ferenc Rakiás is a Hungarian-born actor, writer, and director who has appeared in numerous films and television shows. He is best known for his roles in such films as “Sunshine” (1999), “Kontroll” (2003), and “The Martian” (2015).

Rakiás was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1965. He attended the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest and graduated with a degree in acting in 1987. After graduation, he worked in several theatre companies in Hungary, performing in a variety of plays and films.

In 1997, Rakiás made his film debut in the Hungarian comedy “The Grandescapers”. He then appeared in the Hungarian drama “Sunshine” (1999), for which he received critical acclaim. In 2003, he starred in the Hungarian film “Kontroll”, for which he was nominated for a Hungarian Film Award.

Rakiás has since appeared in a number of television series, films, and plays, including the Hungarian drama “Untold Stories” (2004), the British crime drama “Wallander” (2008-09), and the science fiction film “The Martian” (2015). He has also directed several films and plays, including the Hungarian drama “The Red Violin” (2005) and the Hungarian comedy “The Checkered Flag” (2012).

In addition to his work in film and television, Rakiás has also appeared in several stage productions. He was a member of the Hungarian National Theatre Company from 1998 to 2004, and has since appeared in numerous plays, including the Hungarian comedy “The Grandescapers” (2008), the Hungarian drama “The Red Violin” (2009), and the Hungarian comedy “The Checkered Flag” (2012).

Rakiás is an accomplished actor, director, and writer, and has achieved critical and commercial success in both Hungary and abroad. His work has been praised for its realism and artistic integrity, and he has won numerous awards for his performances, including the Best Actor award at the Hungarian Film Awards in 2003.
