Evan Ginzburg is an American actor, producer, and writer best known for his roles in The Wrestler (2008) and Welcome to the Family (2018). He is the founder of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and the organizer of the Legends of the Ring conventions.

Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1954, Ginzburg was raised in a Jewish family. He attended Hunter College in Manhattan, where he majored in Political Science and Economics. After college, he worked on Wall Street for three years before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment.

In the early 1980s, Ginzburg began producing and writing for independent films and television shows. He had a brief stint as a director for the film “Wrestling for Dollars” (1986), and then moved on to become the executive producer of the cult classic “The Wrestler” (2008). He also produced the documentary “The Wrestlers” (2007), which focused on the emergence of the American wrestling scene.

Ginzburg’s passion for professional wrestling led him to create and organize the Legends of the Ring conventions, which have become annual events that reunite fans and wrestling personalities. He is also the founder and publisher of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, which is one of the most popular and respected sources for news and information about the sport.

In addition to his work in the wrestling world, Ginzburg has also had several acting roles in films and television shows. He played a minor role in the film “Welcome to the Family” (2018), as well as parts in the television series “Leverage” (2009) and “The Good Wife” (2010).

Ginzburg has been a passionate advocate for independent film and television, and has worked to promote and support emerging talent.
