Éric Caravaca is an acclaimed French actor of stage and screen, known for his ability to bring an extraordinary intensity to his performances. He was born in Grasse, France on August 15, 1966.

Caravaca began his acting career in 1989, appearing in the French television series “Le Temps des Vacances.” He quickly made a name for himself in the French film industry, appearing in numerous films, including “Le Retour de Casanova” (1992), “Le Fils du Cordonnier” (1995), and “Le Boucher” (1996).

In 1997, Caravaca made his directorial debut with the short film “L’Affaire du Collier,” which won him the César Award for Best Short Film. He followed that success with his feature film debut, “Une Liaison Pornographique” (1998), which earned him a César nomination for Best Actor.

Caravaca has since appeared in numerous films, including Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s “Amelie” (2001) and “A Very Long Engagement” (2004), and the English-language “The Devil’s Double” (2011), as well as “The Artist” (2011) for which he won the César Award for Best Supporting Actor.

He has also appeared in numerous television series, including “Ainsi soient-ils” (2009) and “Le Grand” (2011). Other notable television appearances include “The Returned” (2013) and “Spiral” (2015).

Caravaca is an accomplished stage actor, having appeared in numerous plays, including “Opera de quat’sous” (1999) and “La Dispute” (2002). He has also appeared in several classic plays, including “The Cherry Orchard” (2004) and “The Misanthrope” (2007).

Throughout his career, Caravaca has been honored with numerous awards, including the César Awards for Best Short Film and Best Supporting Actor, and nominations for Best Actor. He has also won the Prix Louis Jouvet (2001) and the Prix du Syndicat de la Critique (2001).
