Elina Talvensaari is an award-winning Finnish director and screenwriter. She is known for her emotionally-charged stories that explore the complex human psyche. She has worked extensively in both television and film, creating some of the most acclaimed works in both mediums.

Talvensaari was born in Helsinki, Finland, in 1978. She studied film and television at the University of Tampere and later earned a master’s degree in Film and Television from the same institution. Upon graduating, she quickly made a name for herself in the industry with her short films.

Her debut feature, The Other Side of Hope, won both the Critics’ Prize and the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2017 Berlin International Film Festival. It was later chosen as Finland’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards.
