Dwight Blocker Bowers is an American actor known for his work in television, film, and stage. He was born on March 12, 1956, in Washington, DC. He attended the Duke Ellington School of the Arts and graduated from the University of the District of Columbia in 1980.

Bowers began his acting career in 1981, appearing in the film "Fort Apache, The Bronx," and has since gone on to appear in more than two-dozen films and television shows. He is perhaps best known for his recurring role as "Mack" on the ABC hit sitcom "The Drew Carey Show" from 1996 to 2004. He also had a recurring role on the Fox series "That '70s Show" as "Kenny," and guest-starred on numerous other popular television shows, including "Seinfeld," "Friends," "ER," and "Grey's Anatomy."

On the stage, Bowers has appeared in productions of "The Glass Menagerie," "The Wiz," "Dreamgirls," "The Piano Lesson," and "Fences," among others. He has won the Helen Hayes Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Touring Production, for his role in August Wilson's play, "Fences."

In addition to his acting career, Bowers is also a director, having directed productions of "The Piano Lesson," "Fences," and "Macbeth" at the University of the District of Columbia. He has also worked as a guest lecturer at several universities, including Yale, Harvard, and Rutgers.

In his spare time, Bowers enjoys photography, traveling, and cooking. He is married to actress Karen Malina White, and they have three sons.

In 2013, Bowers was awarded the prestigious National Medal of Arts by President Barack Obama. This honor recognizes the significant contributions Bowers has made to the performing arts in the United States.
