BIO

Dweezil Zappa (born September 5, 1969) is an American guitarist, composer, and actor. He is the son of the late legendary musician Frank Zappa, and is a part of the Zappa Family Trust. He has released six solo albums, and has performed with several musical acts, including his own group Zappa Plays Zappa.

Dweezil was born in Los Angeles to Frank and Gail Zappa. He was named after Frank's friend, musician Jeff Simmons, who had the nickname "Dweezil." Dweezil has four siblings: Moon Unit, Ahmet, Diva, and his late brother, musician Dixie.

Growing up, Dweezil was exposed to a variety of music due to his father's influence. He began playing the guitar at the age of twelve, and by the time he was fifteen, he was working as a session musician. He has been a part of various bands throughout his career, including The Mothers of Invention, Z, and Zappa Plays Zappa.

Dweezil's solo albums include My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama (1988), Confessions (1991), Automatic (1993), Shampoohorn (1996), Go with What You Know (2006), and Return of the Son of... (2008). He has also been involved in various film and television projects, including the movie Pretty in Pink and the television series Married...with Children.

In 2006, Dweezil co-founded the Zappa Family Trust, which is dedicated to preserving the legacy of his father's music. He currently serves as the Trust's artistic director and oversees the production of Frank Zappa's catalog. He also organizes the annual Zappanale festival in Germany.

Dweezil has been married to his wife Lauren Knudsen since 2005. They have two children, Zola and Ceylon. He continues to perform and record music with various artists, and he remains an active member of the Zappa Family Trust. At the age of fifty, he is still considered one of the best guitarists in the world.
