Dr. Joe Schloss is an American actor, writer, and producer from New York City. He is best known for his roles in the television series, "Friends" and "The West Wing."

Schloss was born in the Bronx, New York, and raised in the Brooklyn area. He attended New York University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in dramatic literature and theater. He continued his education by receiving a Doctor of Philosophy in theater from Columbia University.

Schloss began his career in the theater, appearing in a number of off-Broadway productions. During this time, he began writing his own plays and scripts. In 1991, he made his television debut in an episode of the popular sitcom, "Friends," playing the role of a doctor. He continued to act in a number of television shows throughout the 1990s.

In 1999, Schloss was cast in the role of White House Press Secretary C.J. Cregg on the critically acclaimed drama, "The West Wing." He was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his performance on the show. He also wrote and produced a number of episodes for the series.

Schloss has since appeared in a number of television shows, including "Grey's Anatomy," "24," and "Glee." He has also appeared in the films "The Siege," "Almost Famous," and "The Bourne Ultimatum."
