BIO

Doug McIntyre is an American film director, producer, and writer, best known for his work on the television series Babylon 5. He was born on August 9, 1952, in Los Angeles, California, and raised in a small town in Northern California.

McIntyre got his start in the entertainment industry as a production assistant on the 1979 film The Wanderers. After graduating from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinema-Television, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and wrote two feature-length screenplays: The Super-8 Movie and The Lost Boys of Summer.

In the late 1980s, McIntyre found success as a director and producer for the television series Babylon 5. He wrote and directed several episodes of the series, and created a spin-off movie, Babylon 5: The Gathering. His directing contributions to the series earned him three Emmy Award nominations.

After Babylon 5, McIntyre began directing feature films. His debut feature, the 1997 romantic comedy My Best Friend's Wedding, became a box-office hit. His subsequent films included the 1999 comedy Get Over It; the 2000 drama Wonder Boys; the 2002 romantic comedy Just a Kiss; and the 2005 drama Must Love Dogs. He also wrote and directed the television movie The Christmas Card in 2006.

In addition to his work in film and television, McIntyre has directed several stage plays, including productions of The Diary of Anne Frank, Our Town, and The Miracle Worker. He has also written several plays, including To Catch a Fish and The Right Way.

Today, McIntyre is a professor at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, where he teaches classes on directing and producing. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.

McIntyre is considered one of the leading directors and producers of his generation. His work on Babylon 5 and his subsequent films have earned him critical acclaim and a devoted following.
