Donald N. Yates is an American actor best known for his roles in the television series Cagney & Lacey, The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful. He was born on August 23, 1943, in Los Angeles, California.

Yates began his acting career in the early 1970s, appearing in several television commercials. He then made his way to feature films, appearing in such films as Jesus of Nazareth and The Black Stallion. During this time, he also had guest spots on various television series, including M*A*S*H, and The Rockford Files.

In the 1980s, Yates began to focus more on television series. He played the role of Officer Mike Mitchell in the long-running police drama Cagney & Lacey, appearing in more than 40 episodes. In 1988, Yates landed the role of Tony Viscardi on the soap opera The Young and the Restless. This role would become his most recognizable, as he would remain on the show for over two decades. During this time, he also had appearances in other series such as The Bold and the Beautiful, Matlock, and Beverly Hills, 90210.
