BIO

Don Glanden (born December 8, 1961) is an American film director, cinematographer, and producer. He has directed and produced feature films, television series, and documentaries, as well as commercials and music videos.

Glanden was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in the Bronx. He began experimenting with film in the late 1970s while attending the High School of Performing Arts. He completed his B.F.A. in Film Directing from State University of New York, Purchase College, in 1985.

Glanden's early work included music videos, documentaries, and short films. His music video for LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out" was nominated for an MTV Video Music Award in 1991.

Glanden's feature film directorial debut was the 1994 drama, "The Last Word". It starred Academy Award-winning actress Ellen Burstyn and was a critical success. He then went on to direct the critically acclaimed "One Tough Cop" (1998), starring Stephen Baldwin and Chris Penn.

Glanden's most recent feature film was the independent drama "Rite of Passage" (2003). It starred Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro and was nominated for several Independent Spirit Awards.

In addition to his work in film and television, Glanden has directed numerous commercials. He has also served as a cinematographer on many projects, including the documentary "The Last Lion" (2004).

Glanden is currently in development on a new feature film, "The Red Shoes", a modern adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen classic. He is also directing the upcoming documentary, "The Life and Times of Dr. John Smith".
