Doc Watson was an American actor and musician who was born on March 4th, 1896 in Kansas City, Missouri. He is best known for his roles in films such as The Three Musketeers, The Wizard of Oz, and his Academy Award-winning performance in The Life of Emmett Till.

Doc Watson began his career in the theater, performing in small roles in productions such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Three Musketeers. He quickly rose to fame with his Academy Award-winning performance in The Life of Emmett Till, which was released in 1955. Following his success in theater, Watson began appearing in films, playing character roles in classics such as The Wizard of Oz and The Ten Commandments. He also appeared in several TV series and movies, including The Twilight Zone, The Fugitive, and The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

In addition to his acting career, Watson was an accomplished musician. He was a renowned guitarist, and played in a number of bands during the 1940s. He was also known for his signature singing style, which included a combination of blues and gospel music. He released several albums, including "Doc Watson and His Guitar" (1962) and "Doc Watson Sings the Songs of His People" (1965).

Throughout his career, Watson earned numerous awards and accolades, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1989. In 2003, he was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame. He was also nominated for two Golden Globe Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award.

Doc Watson passed away on May 29th, 2008, at the age of 112. He will be remembered for his incredible acting and musical talents, and will continue to live on through his many film and music recordings.
