Djibril Cissé is a French professional footballer who plays as a striker. He is currently a free agent, having most recently played for Swiss club Yverdon-Sport FC. Born on 12 August 1981 in Arles, France, he began his career with local club US Saint-Étienne in 1998. He quickly established himself as one of the most promising young talents in French football, and earned a move to Auxerre in 2000.

Cissé enjoyed success in his first season at Auxerre, scoring 14 goals in 39 appearances. He followed this up with an impressive 12-goal season in 2001-02, and his performances earned him a move to English Premier League club Liverpool in 2004.
