Dieter Werner was a German actor and voice actor who was active in the entertainment industry from the 1950s to the late 1990s. He was best known for his roles in films such as The Miracle of Bern (2003) and The Tin Drum (1979).

Dieter was born in Berlin in 1927. He started his career in the 1950s participating in various German theater productions. He made his film debut in 1957 with the movie “Der Bockerer”. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s he appeared in a variety of films and television shows, most notably in the 1970s he starred in classics such as The Tin Drum, The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum, and The Marriage of Maria Braun.

In the 1980s Dieter began to focus on voice over work, lending his voice to a variety of cartoons and other productions. He continued this work into the 1990s and was the German voice for many characters such as Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry and Winnie the Pooh.

In 2003 Dieter appeared in his final film, the drama The Miracle of Bern. He played the role of the grandfather of a young boy who is a fan of the German football team. The film was a critical and commercial success and Dieter was highly praised for his performance.

Dieter was married to actress Hannelore Schroth, with whom he had one daughter, actress Christine Schroth.

Throughout his career Dieter received a variety of awards and nominations, including the Bavarian Film Awards for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal in The Tin Drum.

Dieter Werner passed away in 2011 at the age of 84. He was remembered as one of the most influential German actors of his era, and his legacy lives on through his many films and voiceover performances.
