Dick Cavett is an American television host, comedian, and actor. Born in Nebraska in 1936, Cavett has hosted a number of iconic television talk shows such as The Dick Cavett Show, Cavett, and The Dick Cavett Show: On Broadway.

Cavett had a passion for the performing arts from a young age and got his start in show business when he became a page at NBC in New York City. After graduating from Yale University, Cavett worked as a writer for the Tonight Show with Jack Paar. During this time, he also wrote jokes for other comedians including Bob Hope.

In 1968, Cavett was given the chance to host his own weekly talk show called The Dick Cavett Show. This show featured interviews with a wide range of guests from the world of entertainment, politics, and literature.
