Dennis Bergkamp, born on May 10, 1969, is a Dutch former professional footballer who is widely known for his prowess as a striker. He is remembered as one of the greatest players of his generation and is recognized for his technique, vision and passing ability.

Bergkamp began his professional career at Ajax in 1986 at the age of 17. During his 11-year tenure at Ajax, he won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, the UEFA Champions League, three Eredivisie titles and one KNVB Cup. During this period he was also named Dutch Footballer of the Year in 1992 and 1993.

In 1995, Bergkamp moved to England to play for Arsenal, where he quickly established himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League. He was part of the Arsenal side that won two Premier League titles, three FA Cups and four Community Shields. He was also named Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year in 1998 and PFA Players' Player of the Year in 1998.

Bergkamp's time in the Premier League was marked by many memorable moments, most notably his goal against Newcastle United in 2002, where he flicked the ball over the defender's head and volleyed it into the back of the net. He was also known for his invention of the "dummy", a technique where he would feint past a defender with the ball and leave it for a teammate to run onto.

Bergkamp retired from professional football in 2006, after 11 years at Arsenal. He was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2007 and was named as one of the greatest living players by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics in 2013.

Bergkamp is currently the assistant manager of Ajax and is widely respected for his knowledge and insight into the game. He is well-known for his charitable work, having established the Dennis Bergkamp Foundation to help disadvantaged children.
